Michal Toborek

Biography
Toborek has completed his MD and PhD from the Silesian Medical University, Poland, and completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Kentucky. He is the Vice-Chair for Research in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Research in Dr. Toborek’s laboratory has been focused on several aspects of vascular biology. Specific interest involves studies on the integrity of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and how different pathological conditions can lead to the disruption and/or dysfunction of the BBB. He has published numerous manuscripts related to this field and has been serving as an editorial board member of many journals.
